10 JanWhat was your first kid’s favorite food when they were a baby?

I was astonished when I knew there are so many mothers do NOT cook properly for their child. They just order foods or deli while putting thier kid into kindergarten or cook like “cat foods” at most because they are busy. I do cook everyday for child so I was shocked when moms says that they buy retort pouch baby foods at shops or order delivery foods. What was your first kid’s favorite food when they were a baby?
Was(Is) your baby able to eat lots of fruits? Doesn’t doctor say you should not give them much fruits in order to prevent from causing allergy?

He loved strained peaches and peas. Wouldn’t eat meat until he was 2, but did well with scrambled eggs, fortunately!

I don’t really know if my son has a “favorite” food, he eats about anything… He isn’t too keen on mexican though. From a restaurant *or* made by me. He likes homemade tacos but with all of the parts individually and doesn’t eat the tortilla. He is a HUGE fan of fruit though, he will devour any kind of berry. He could seriously eat a whole box of blueberries or blackberries. Any berries… I made some indian style chicken curry the other night and he went nuts over it… Salmon curry a while back too he absolutely devoured. I try to change it up quite a bit here with what we cook but we do eat a lot of things with chicken and we have a lot of steamed veggies. He eats what we eat and always has. We went the route of Baby Led Weaning.

ETA: I didn’t have a huge concern with allergies, and neither did my pedi seeing as we have no history of allergies on either side of the family, food or otherwise. We also didn’t start him on anything aside from breast milk until he was six months. I also found this http://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/startingsolids/feedbabywhatwhen/ very informative and helpful as well as this http://www.borstvoeding.com/voedselintroductie/schema/engels.html as an even more cautious guideline. My son has had no issues whatsoever though :)

my little boy loved cauliflower and broccoli cheese, but hes three now and wont touch it!!

i used to feed my son 3 different fruits everyday as his puddings. He is a complete fruit bat now, he loves berries of allsorts, apples, pineapple, melon, mango, kiwi etc. I was just advised not feed him pineapple, kiwi or strawberries before 12 months, however we have no allergies in our family so i tried him with them and he was fine. a lot of my friends fed their babies jarred food and now have very fuzzy three year olds, whereas i fed him pureed veg for his main and oureed fruit for desert and he eats nearly everyhting, including curry and chilli, fish, meats etc and isnt afraid to try new foods whereas friends kids are.

My son’s favorite foods were (still are) peas, sweet potatoes and green beans. He is still a veggie lover at 2. Not so much with the fruit. I started him out on fruits though, because he absolutely HATED baby cereal. But, once I introduced veggies to him, there was no going back…lol. For allergies, my son’s doctor told me to offer him a new food every five-seven days and to watch for gassiness, a rash on his face or other parts of his body that is not a diaper rash or unexplainable, runny nose and watery eyes, bouts of diarrhea
vomiting or increased spitting-up. Actually for his first bites of food, my pediatrician recommended I use my clean finger and once he gets used to having food in his mouth and swallowing it, to move onto a baby rubber coated spoon.

Bananas, crackers, croutons, slices of sharp cheddar cheese, cheerios, yogurt, strawberries, macaroni with tuna and peas added, sugar free freezy pops, ice cold water, peanut butter and jelly on wheat bread, baked chicken with lemons squeezed over it, corn on the cob. I try not to give microwave foods, but do on occasion because I am a very busy single mother to 5. But I know for sure that I would never shove fast food , soda pop, unlimited juice, chips, candy, over processed foods in front of my children on a regular basis. My children know that these things can make you fat, but are okay in moderation. Donuts are like a 2 or 3 time a year treat, just like cake is on birthdays and pie is on holidays. I saw on a show that if you deny children these treats all together, that later on in life, they have a higher chance of obesity or anorexia. But if you teach them that these foods are okay on occasion and in moderation, you are setting them up with good dietary knowledge. I will not say that I have never given my baby french fries or chocolate shakes. I will say that it is occasionally, and in moderation. But I know that the regular and consistent foods I provide little ones with has good nutritional values, and covers the food groups.
